Career ruts need to be dealt with; otherwise you could end up becoming out of balance. Are you willing to do something about your career issue? Are you willing to develop yourself personally so that you achieve the level of income that you desire? If what you have answered ‘yes’ to these questions, then you are ready to close the gap between where you are and what you want to be.
I have listed below the most common ‘career ruts’ that people fall into.
The work rut. Do you feel as if you are on an endless treadmill and that there is only work in your life? Are you too young to retire but need to find a job that you enjoy doing? The Solution. You need to get off the treadmill and create some balance in your life first and foremost.
The boredom rut. Are you bored and frustrated by what you do? Do you want to be following a different career? The Solution. You need to fill in a career profile and change your profession or field of work.
The survival rut. Do you feel as if you are just trying to survive? Have you been at the receiving end of too many knocks and disappointments? The Solution. You need to surround yourself with positive people, people who recognise your talents and people who can help you regain your self-confidence.
The ‘me’ rut. Are feeling put upon and over-loaded? Have other people got into the habit of relying on you? The Solution. You need to start putting yourself first again. You need to listen to and respond to your needs and stop feeling responsible for other people. They can look after themselves.
‘The one day I’ll be rich’ rut. Have you always secretly believed that you would be rich? Do you need to clear some debts in order to feel better? The Solution. Financial freedom is possible for you too, if you are willing to look at and change your spending and investment patterns.
